If Alexander had carried on into India and Asia, finally reaching the East coast of China, any ideas on where else he may have gone?...I know his plan was to enter and subdue Arabia, but do you think he would have carried on into Africa?...or maybe north into Europe?...or just returned to Macedonia to consolidate and maintain his empire?

I believe that when he was 'forced' to turn back after his men refused to go any farther, he had plans to conquor Carthage and North Africa. Evidently at the time he was in India, he could have easily conquored the whole of the north and proceeded Eastward to the silk route road into China that was in existance even then. Just imagine if he had!

I believe you are right Ruthaki. As he laid dying, the troops and ships were loaded and ready to go. He had planned to cross the Persian Gulf and start in Arabia. Then head west across northern Africa, come up through the Straits of Gibralter, and head east towards Greece. He also planned to build enormous monuments at various points along his route.

Had Alexander pushed on Eastwards I should think he would have perished along with his demoralised army upon the Gangetic Plain. The Kingdom of the Gandaridae possessed military resources far in excess of Porus' little kingdom.
