As the discussion in "Alexander's discretion & Hephaestion" has rather moved on from "discretion", I have split the thread and created a new one called "Hephaestion and the chiliarchy". All the posts from around 6 February, relating to this discussion, have been put into the new thread.

I wish I could say that I were! Unfortunately, the answer is rather more mundane than that: Paralus also had the same thought, and asked me to split it!
