It seems that Peter Green has the idea that Alexander lost an initial engagement at Granicus. If thats the case why very little in any at all reference to this. Alexanders detractors would have jumped on that one particulaly the mouthpieces in Athens.

Even if it is true, he lost an engagement, not the battle.

Exactly :wink: And I don't think no one could object to this, since Alexander was the only one in history that never lost a single battle. But who knows, envy is a powerful and destructive feeling... :?

If Alexanderf had such a set back it would have been recorded as at the Persian Gates Alexander walked into a barricaded Bottle Neck. He took a hammering till he sussed it out via a Goat Track. Ephialtes Revisited. It could have been a disaster and has been recorded and noted.

As a top up none of Alexanders errors etc have been tried to be glossed over.

His so called defeat by his troops. Makran,Persian Gates,The Force whiped out by Spitamenese.
