Since I can't find the topic in which I said Cawden instead of Cawthorne, I had to correct myself here. Nina approached the topic of an Alexander today, and I recently found this book, small paperback, whose author is Nigel Cawthorne, which has a picture of Alexander posed as a Persian in Persian dress. He is unfortunately also sporting a beard, is dressed in a yellow robe, which reminds me of a famous modern day personality who is famous for his appearance in his gold lame robe as well. I am convinced that Kandahar is no accident as the home base for this former world personality, who I wil keep unnamed at this post!

Believe me, Jan, any resemblance to other persons living or dead is purely coincidental. So is Kandahar.

Well, the point is that she had wanted to have an Alexander type modern day leader, and in this case, I do think that many modern day leaders tend to use Alexander as a kind of role model, including this very famous person. I don't doubt one bit that he may have contrived to look a lot like the portrait that is shown in the book by Cawthorne as the beard is so similar as well as the mode of dress. By the way, I see that it is rumored today according to intelligence that he has died of impure water, the same that some believe that Alexander had died, possibly tyhpoid! I hope that the rumors of his death do turn out to be true.

I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that this might be the case, Jan.

Utter nonsense, Jan. Alexander was portrayed that way in Persian art because that was how the Persians wore their hair.

HI Marcus, I am laughing now! I just got back to this topic. Oh well, I can't stand to see Alexander portrayed wearing a beard! It just looks awful! But books are often planted for reasons, and I think that that portrait is probably like many French books that confuse all the kings of France with one another. I just think that this Persian had to be Darius instead of Alexander, so maybe Oliver Stone is more nearly correct after all...still just laughing!
