Karen, the name of one son can be found in Athenaeus, The Deipnosophists. DonGÇÖt have the exact reference because I donGÇÖt own the volume in which it is to be found. ItGÇÖs somewhere in Book IV between 128 c GÇô 131 e. ThatGÇÖs as close as I can get, IGÇÖm afraid. :-)GÇ£On top of these viands, Hippolochus says that Proteas, descendant of that Proteas who was the son of Lanice GÇô the same who had been the nurse of King Alexander GÇô drank a great deal (for he was given to drinking, like his grandfather Proteas, AlexanderGÇÖs comrade), and toasted everybody. Heckel's new book probably does have it -- because another friend of mine pointed me to a reference in _Marshall's of A's Empire_... in the entry for Kleitos (where I should have looked first). Two sons are named, Proteas & Theodoros.Thanks nonetheless! And I'll echo Paralus in wondering whether Adams has a source for "somewhere in the Pindus" as the scene of Perdikkas III's end.Grateful good wishes,

From Heckel's "Who's Who in the Age of Alexander":-s.v. Lanice: "(...) she is named as the mother of Proteas (Hippolochus ap. Ath 4.129a; Ael VH 12.26) and two other sons (M41-41)"-s.v. M41-42: "Two sons of Lanice, the sister of black Cleitus; they died in battle at Miletus in 334 (C 8.2.8; cf. A 4.9.4)" [M refers to the section of anonymous men]-s.v. Theodorus: "Brother of Proteas and thus probably son of Lanice (...). He is known only from P[lutarch, ]M[oralia] 760c, who records correspondence between the King and Theodorus concerning a hetaira/musician".
