Companions hailIve just done some reading about Napoleon and the Napoleonic wars. Many Military scholars and rating put Napoleon very high and some even have him on a par with Alexander. Is this jusyt or rediculous. I would say silly. Although Napoleon won some great victories and had great tactics its absurd to have him so high. The guy abandoned Armies all overEurope. He was trapped in Alexandria for months until he sneeked out leaving his army and blaming the commanders for his cock up. The guy invaded the Spanish Perninsualr with 300 000 men. Wellington out generaled these forces and creamed them all the way back to France. Then the crazy boy befor anything else was settled took off into Russia with 400 000 men returning only with 30 000. Is any of this a sign ofgenius tactically or political.I have every respect for the great victories of Napoleon but as a whole the guy was a total disaster.Could we imagine Alexander beenin the HEart of Persia and sudennly decide to Invade Carthage or Rome at the same time. ITs absolute madness. Hitlet did the same befor securing Europe and making sure of England he invades Russia also Hitlers worse mistake. Even as an English man were Hitler to presson he would have taken our Island. For Napoleon to be rtaed with Alexander is no way right indeed. Wellington proved more astute.Napoleon must have lost at least a million of his own men Alexander was very economic with his soldiers.RegardsKenny
