Rah,I always found Alexander's reply to Parmenion's suggestion that he accept Darius's offer following the battle of Issus somewhat amusing.
Parmenion: "I would accept it, if I were Alexander."
Alexander: "So would I, if I were Parmenion."Elpi

I guess you might call both humor, but I think they were more sarcastic statements than laughing humor, I guess I mean funny.George

Hail Folksi would say to judge any humour even today mopst difficult. Even more so with a community and society more different than ours. Its wel;l known that Americans and Brits have a total sense of humour as with most societies.I love Al Bundy my favourite situation comedy but I find American comedians un funny and too loud.Im sure the crach to Parmenio with most of his quips were indeed sarcasm. I dont think there is anything in the sources that underline any sense of humour. Maybe he generals thought he was joking going against vast numbers.regards Kenny

I have read in two different books that as a child, he did not laugh nor even smile much, as he was that serious. From all accounts, while he was supposed to have been an optimistic and positive thinking person, he never seemed to have a sense of humor.

He wasn't a very humorous person,if you want to know.Mostly he frowned,but...he laughed...at the things others thought unusual. He laughed of stupidity.

Hello. I don't post enough for anyone here to really know me but I do read often. Anyway, maybe the things he said which were humorous have just not been recorded because nobody thought it important. I haven't read though that he frowned a lot though. Where did you find that?
