Companions HiFor the third time this weekend I watched the Movie Hidalgo a movie about an unbroken Amereican Mustang.I drew parralels with Alexanders horse and wondered just how much some horses are in tune with there masters. It was evident Hidalgo was all but wild apart from allowing the guy in the movie to ride him that he was set free at tyhe end still wild.I was really touched how cloise a companion they are totally trustworthy and real companion as with a dog. I think maybe sometimes they echo the spirit of its rider and maybe carzy can converse with them.I know very little about horses only the burdon they have carried for humans for thousands of years. Its often been quoted that horses aint that intelligent but I am sure in spirit they are close to us and just maybe there was nothing nor anyone more in kindred spirit to Alexander than his horse.Indeed up to his end im sure Bucephalus was still a wild horse that only Alexander could communicate with and tame. SAome people would call it extreme when Alexander threatened the abdustors of his horse with anhialation. But I admire and like the closeness Alexander had with his trusted Steed.Any thoughtsKenny

Hi Kenny, Yes, I loved that movie too and the horse is so well trained that you would imagine that a relationship between a horse and a boy from age 12 would certainly be even more exciting to imagine. They shared many wonderful times together, don't you think? YOu have great tastes for great movies, I can tell. That was very special methinks too! And I agree that ATG and Buch were tighter than tight!

Thanks JanetI try to watch movies with a soul or a good story to tell. And indeed I find comparisons with Alexander.Im more than sure Alexanders relationship with Bucephalus mirrored the guy in the movie.I found the story sad with the core of its story and compare the way America has built an economic empire to Alexanders.I have friend who are American and treasure them but there are some aspects of American politics that make me sad. Alexander was I would say open and up front called a spade a spade. He wasnt one for creating little treaties under the auspices to steal land or posesions at a later time.I m so glad these horses were spared and not wiped out as the story seemed to be heading.Regards
Kenny

Even though the movie Hidalgo was based on a true story, it isn't true that the horse was turned loose in Oklahoma as the movie shows.
In reality the horse (Hidalgo) was left in Arabia.
This bit of information was researched from the mans
own biography.
I do believe that Bucephalus did have a very special relationship with Alexander. There are some people, and some horses that seem to have a very extraordinary relationship and understanding of each other. I have seen horses respond to kindness in remarkable ways.
I used to breed and raise quarter horses.
