I can't remember off the top of my head.See Donald Engels "Alexander the Great and the Logistics of the Macedonian Army" which is still in print (in fact, I think it's recently been re-issued).It tells you all you want to know ... and plenty more!All the bestMarcus

You'll find all this & more in "Alexander the Great and the Logistics
of the Macedonian Army", Donald Engels, University of California
Press - but I do recall something about 3 pounds of grain per man
per day... Carried in grain form so that it could be ground to make
porridge or dampers, depending on what other (local) things were
available.wmp
