Blame the director. I for one think the cast did incredibly well with what they were given, which was not much in form of script. I hated the accents though, Colin has been able to get rid of that in previous movies, I don't know why that didn't hapenned, and even Val had an accent, what the hell? I commend Oliver Stone for not being afraid to show the relationship between Hephaistion and Alexander, as previous movies on the subject either ignored Hephaistion altogether, or casually spoke his name. I don't like directors who are afraid. I think ALEXANDER was a overall a bold move, it did not completely botch, performances were not too bad, cinematography was pretty good, the problem was that it felt rushed, like Oliver procrastinated and waited till the night before release to put the scenes together. It was unorganized, but a good attempt at least. NO MOVIE ON ALEXANDER WILL EVER BE PERFECT! It was said that for a story of Alexander to be truly well told, it would require six different interpretations. Hell the damm sources on his life often contradict, or embelish, how in the world can a movie be perfect? Regardless of the problems, this was by far the best film on Alexander, if you take the others into consideration. And you know all of you will most likely buy the dvd at some point in your lives. As for the critics, how about challenging their asses to get off the chair and actually make a movie? They wouldn't know whether to cry or piss themselves.

Lucian HailI agree with your points an critics as I said before I use critics acclaim as a good pointer to avoid movies. With regard to the accents,,, I dont see why its that important,, Yesterdyay I saw a credible movie called Wars and peace Staring Henry Fonda. The Russian High clasees spoke with upper class English accents and the common Russians spoke with Cockney Accents and the Russian Hero Fonda spoke with a distinctive American accent,,, There was no Russian lingo at all,,, throughout movie history, WE get John Waynes Ghenghis khan.I think with Ancient movies such accents as Irish sound more apt than the American cowboy tones.Kenny

I agree with you Kenny. Must they all take with American accents? After all, it was not an American-made film, but filmed in Europe & Asia. The Macedonians spoke with highland cants, so I accepted that was the reason they allowed the actors to speak in their own accents. Didn't bother me at all the second and third time I saw the film, though it did bother me a bit the first time.
Re: Movie
Hail Ruth.Spot on some people are just too fussy,,, Lord Of the RIngs had a more varied choice of Accents from English,, Yorkshire New Zealand and Yank.At least Alexander was localised.I think the problem is,, Some of us liked the film some thought it rubbish,, When I get the dvd it will merely be for the action Battle scenes,,, But as some of our people have said,, Its areal shame the movie wasnt a great movie to rival The Lord of The Rings..Our Mans story was and is the most wnderous and magnificent story of one mans greatness its a shgame such a movie was not produced just to show the world,,, What we already know.
