The marching tactics of achaemeneans
I didn't know that they used drums and musical instruments to direct their marching and troopes in battle. I wonder if this could have been what the Macedonians refered to when they called them "young war dancers" at Susa (324 B.C.) when Alexander displayed 30,000 Perian warriors. It was said that the Macedonians felt upset over them because they were to be the core of a new army, "successors".

A fast reply before this message disappears: I have been studying the Persian army for some time now, but I think the whole idea about drums etcetera is just romantic fiction. I haven't come around evidence for this anywhere.Regards ---Nick
