Greatness Is not Won only on the battlefield.

Post by iskander_32 »

Companions HiIve just watched a 3 hour documentarty on Napoleon Boneparte,, Now ther was a great General. In comparison with Alexander Napoleon fought more big battles against odds,, Yet In my opinion and othjers Alexander is deemed the greater general.I think this is bore out by the ludicrous things Napoleon did when not winning,,, He lost 400000 men tryiny to over run Russia , He also got trapped in Egypt when Nelson trounced his navy.Thge statistics for Napoleon were high,4000 000 of his own men in battle. The good thing about Napoleon I feel he understood warefare and tactics like Alexander he even slept with Alexanders books. We talk about sex and other things Napoleons theory was victory was his mistress and sexual liasons something thats just done,, I feel that the same for Alexander.Part of the programe showed how Napoleon mellowed and became soft when he became a father.Maybe had Alexander fallen in real love in that way he would have lost his edge Im sure he would, Women Romance falling in love I really dont think Alexander was for that.To know and read Napoleon indeed learsn us about the mind of Alexander. He also said "great Commanders create there own luck,, And jelous brigands call genious luck".What that says is there would be jelous of Alexanders Skill and victories and dismiss it as luck.Hail Napoleon.Kenny

Well, Kenny, Napoleon lost countless men in Russia, most of them because of the adverse weather conditions rather than in battle. What about Alexander in the Gedrosian Desert?:-)Marcus
