Kind regards all,My question relates to the accuracy of a picture (with the link outlined below). I know apart from the sarissas, the army favoured rather shorter than the average sword (compared to Roman swords). The following picture depicts such a sword allegedly used by Alexander. Does anyone know if it is a accurate description. Are there any accurate ancient texts describing in detail Alexander's sword?Thankyou (in advance) for your time.The link is:

HiLast year I was in Corfu and looking round thje Markets,, I was very tempted when I saw one of these swords supposedly been of Alexander.I has a hairs breath away from buying onw with total dismay from my wife, she really didnt like the idea of having such a thing in the house with 2 children.The one thing that made me not get it was the fact that no one really has a clue what Alexanders sword actually looked like,, I suppose we can guess with the types of sword that were used at that time but we dont know what His was like.I have thought about holidays in Greece etc and maybe comming across a mysterious burried box full of Alexanders personal items.What lengths would I go to to keep them and above all how would I get them through customs,,, Just a thoughtRegardsKenny

Kenny is right, in that we don't really know what Alexander's sword looked like - but I'd put money on it *not* looking like that. Even if the shape of the blade is right (and I'm not an expert on Greek and Hellenistic weapons), the hilt is certainly incorrect.All the bestMarcus

The sword in the movie was accurate but right now I don't have the link except for the repos. from the Franklyn Mint on ebay.

In honesty, the sword does look lame and not the type you'd expect Alexander or his troops to be carrying. However, i would visit movie-weapons.co.uk once the film has had a UK release, as they will be selling an exact film replica sword. I can only hope that they consulted Lane Fox on this matter too.
