Comrades From early days of reading the bible and scratching the surface with the Koran.Its been mentioned Alexander having refernces in both books.It goes without saying that such books have been twisted and taken out of context from the days they were writen,,, Anyone with a coniving clever mind can find in those books reasons and excuses for whatever they believe and sometimes what they do.I find nothing wrong with any beliefs but religion of any type in the wrong hands has proved distructive caused people to yield in fear,, Example in adulthood several occasions out walking I have been accosted by lay preachers,,, When I say no thanks,,, The reply I often get is" Dont you care what happens to your children?"I very much liken these books with the Illiad a nice collection of stories nothing more.But man has a history of using such things as the most potent weapon used.Take no notice about the bible condeming our guy, The bible can make anyone a demond or a saint.I wonder how many of the cardinals and popes can go to there boxes believing they have done the word of the lord?

Hi Kenny,We have to be careful about this turning into an argument about religion, which could easily offend some people, and which could be irrelevant to the purpose of the forum.One thing's for sure - I'm sure that most cardinals and popes believed they were doing God's work, just as many spiritual leaders from other faiths have done. Some might have been, others most definitely weren't! However, there's a big difference, as I think you do say, between what religious texts say and how people interpret them; and therefore we should be careful about condemning the religion as a result.All the bestMarcus
