am an editor of the online site for Alexander The great (http://www.pothos.org/forum). I have been studying a document published in 1845 in Venice, titled the Testament of Alexander The Great. It is written in Macedonian , and is printed in Cyrillic & Greek script. It is in the form of a poem, and it describes the history & destiny of Macedonia from Alexander's death, through Roman, Byzantine & Ottoman empires, until 1845. There are many questions that remain about the document; if anyone is interested in this subject - particularly specialists in philology, can they please contact me ?Susan Holmes

Susan Holmes ?
First there havenot any document from Venice with that title. It is probably part of romancing publication of modern times done by some Greek neofashist
who want to make Macedonian position in the battle for name to be naive. We on VMacedonia all know that Alexandar have done testament with the ring.

Dear Bodan Thank you for your message. There is indeed such a document, as I have a copy of it. As to its history, that is what we have been trying to understand. Let me say, though, that I am interested in it from the aspect of the Alexander legend - I've spent years looking at tales of Alexander in different countries and traditions, and I have no intention of getting involved in the Greek/Macedonian debate. I'm interested in it because it appears to be a 19th century historical document which describes Alexander's death and events in the Balkans over 2000 years; there are many puzzling features in it which have nothing to do with current day events. If you'd like to know more about the document on this basis, I can send you some more information, or refer you to other people who know more about it than I do; it contains a very poetic and colourful description of Alexander's death. Re: Susan Holmes
If you like to help me...defenitely i can. From that period is Veda Slovena from Gologanov production. On the web before 3 -4 years i have found similar testament with a lot of contemporary modern Macedonian troubles of unity. That have been my reason to dismiss that document and to put time of production in the last 10 years. So where on the net I or anyone can have chance to see this document?

Re: The Book-...Susan Holmes
Hi,... it was said REPEATEDLY that the title of the book is not "Testament of...", so insisting on that title is wrong, and the people from the other forum are right. There is only one testament with the ring, and this book has nothing to do with testaments but with PREDICTIONS, so the title is "PREDICTIONS OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT". THAT IS WHY MAYBE I, AND SOME OTHER PERSONS, DID NOT WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS, BECAUSE IT WAS SOMEHOW TWISTED, TWISTED APROACH TOWARDS THE TOPIC AND THE BOOK AND THAT IS SOURCE OF MISINTERPRETATIONS AND MISUSE FOR VARIOUS RESONS, .... WE HOPE THAT NOW, AFTER THIS - IE.E AFTER COMMING TO LIGHT FOR WIDER AUDIENCE, MANY THINGS WILL BE ON RIGHT PATH, ... HOWEVER WHEN THIS IS "FINISHED" I/WE ARE WAITING TO BE INFORMED ABOUT OUTCOME, IT IS VERY SENSITIVE AND IMPORTANT, MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE, ...NOSTRADAMUS AND "OTHERS" ARE/WILL BE LIKE CHILDISH STORY'S COMPARED WITH THIS, IT WILL RISE SERIOUS, EVEN SCIENTIFIC INQUARY INTO THE TOPIC...SO WAIT AND SEE.... CHANGES ARE ON THE WAY FOR GOOD ... ALL THE BESTTHE LIGHT 7000

Dear Dr VascoThanks for your comments, which I'll certainly bear in mind. As I said before, we've no intention of misusing it, we are just interested in the historical aspects.RegardsSusan

I agree that this sort of thing is potentially sensitive. I've only heard a little bit about this document from Susan, but it is easy to see how something of this sort could be misrepresented or misunderstood. There was a time when this sort of thing would have been repressed simply because it might encourage people to question the 'accepted' dogma. I doubt that this particular document would turn out to be so controversial - but as we already know how easily 'myths' about Alexander can be accepted as true, your warning is very appropriate! :-)All the bestMarcus
