second hand shopping spree

I don't want to put at limbo my 'status' (hahaha!) here as a moderator, but during a quick shopping spree in a nearby (Dutch) city today I bought two second hand books about Alexander."Da Weltreich Alexanders des Grossen" by Droysen, 1934 (in German, yes, but I can read German if I take the time to do so)."Alexander the Great" by Harold Lamb, Dutch translation, 1961.Is there anyone who cares to fill me in before I start reading these new findings? Thanks!Regards ---Nick

Hello NickHarold Lamb's book is funny - it has the hilarious Macedonian hill-run, if I remember rightly. Picture Alexander and his soldiers running uphill like Groucho Marx and you have the picture. The other book I've only heard of by its reputation as being somewhat grim. However, it was a grim time when it was written so I think it probably reflects the modern writer's world and psyche more than it sheds light on Alexander's. Hope this helps.CheersHalil
