Masters Studies in Alexander
HelloKind regards. My question relates to official study programmes about Alexander. I hope to do a Masters (MA) in a subject where Alexander is the principle topic of study. I have come across a number of history degrees in the UK that vaguely offer ancient greek history as a core module, but nothing relating to Alexander concrete. Thus, I was wondering if anyone knows of a Masters study at UK universities offering this type of degree. Unfortunately, I work as a doctor, so it would have to be part time and/or distance study.Thank you kindly.Sincerelyyassar

Re: Masters Studies in Alexander
I can't speak for all universities, of course, but my experience of MA studies has been that, while there might be modules offered, the Alexandrine period is unlikely to form a large part of any course. A student's best chance would be when it comes to the dissertation.MAs tend to be taught degrees, and I'm not aware of any universities in the UK offering them as distance learning courses. Your best bet is to contact a couple of good universities to find out what they can offer. The most likely, in my view, would be Birkbeck College, London, which specialises in part time degrees (I did my MA there). Other universities that tend to be good for postgraduate study include Nottingham, Bristol (unlikely to do distance learning), University College London, and De Montfort University (Leicester). All the bestMarcus

Here's the page on Birkbeck's Classical Studies MA:http://www.bbk.ac.uk/hca/courses/maclas ... tructureAt the bottom of the page is a link for "international students" - it looks as if they might offer some teaching online. However, you will notice that there's *nothing* on Alexander there - so, as I suggested before, you're only likely to get to do anything Alexandrine at Dissertation time. All the bestMarcus
