To the best of my knowledge, no one knows for certain. The story of Alexander's birth is told by Plutarch (http://www.livius.org/aj-al/alexander/a ... r_t32.html ). He doesn't mention the place where the baby was born. In my opinion, this can only mean that he was born in the royal palace at Pella. Had Olympias become mother somewhere else, this would have been unusual and Plutarch would have told us.Jona

all that i have read seems to suggest Pella. A few contemporary authors assume it.
