So the plan was:
Defence being the phalanx that was anchoring the opponents offence. Letting them weaken wave after wave and at the desisive moment, when there was an opening at the opponents defence, the heavy cavalry (midfielders) would move from the sides for the desisive strike, passing the ball to Alexander (strikers) for the kill. Goal and game over!Sorry, I couldn't resist posting this :-)

I must say I am delighted with Greece winning the cup. Maybe not the most beautiful footbal, but certainly effective. And that is what counts. Yes, it is vaguely reminiscent of Alexander beating the glorious opposition with a team of warriors armed with rusty bronze and unpolished iron.My wife has lived in Portugal for over four years, so at home we are always a little bit in favor of the Portugese. Still, we both felt that Greece really deserved this victory.Congrats -Nick

What a glorious victory! Yay! I was on the bus coming home from a weekend trip so I missed all the celebrations here in my city but today I wore my Greek T-shirt just to show some solidarity.
