A Bit of Personal News...

Post by ScottOden »

Dear Forum-mates,I received a bit of good news this week that I thought I'd share with you. It's not strictly Alexander-related, but it bodes well for my novel 'Memnon'. My first book, 'Men of Bronze' (concerning the Persian invasion of Egypt in 525 BC), sold last week to Medallion Press. In the contract, they retained the right of first refusal for 'Memnon' (they'll be wanting to see a rough draft by Feb. 15 2005). I wanted to take a second to thank Nick and everyone here for all the time spent answering my questions about Alexander-related things. I'm sure I'll have many, many more questions in the coming months ;)Thanks for lending an ear,Scott Oden

Thatis very good newes. It is interesting to learn that this is a place where authors reach out and help one another. Thanks for explaining.

Well done indeed, Scott. As Dean says - inspiration for us all.I've been away for a few weeks, on holiday etc. so this was excellent news to come back to.I finished my book just before I went away (bar some serious editing) and my own search for an agent/publisher now commences. Aarrgghhh! All the bestMarcus

This is great news, Scott, and encouraging for those of us who are toiling over manuscripts. All the best with Book #2 as well (which I have had the pleasure of reading a small sample of and enjoyed very much!) ruthaki
