Re: Forum Ancient Coins; http://www.forumancientcoins.com/index.html There has been a few people in this fabulous forum that have shown interest in Alexanders. Here you will find a variety of cost (due to condition and rarity) some that might be affordable for purchase. Left click on Greek, left on web page scroll down to Hellenistic Monarchies and click on Alexander the Great, second coin below the beautiful Lysimachos coin (Lampsakos mint) you will notice one of the nicest obverse (silver tetradrachm, Amphipolis mint) I've ever seen, click on picture for enlargement). Notice the lion head headdress with the tooth at the bottom of the lion's jaw. It's very rare to find a lion's headdress on Alexander in such distinct condition. It will take me a while to pay for this one but I believe it's worth it.

Lucky you if you purchased a real coin. I have a copy of the Lysimachus coin made into a medallion and another smaller one as a ring. Even though they're not the 'real' thing, I treasure them and get many compliments when I wear them.
