I am quite surprised!!!! these words are of pure slavic origin. Both words are used extensively in the Russian and other slavic languages and their translation holds exactly the same meaning with what you gave to us. On the other hand you are the one trying to convince us about your non-slavic origin. Can you clarify this controversy?Keep in mind that all the places during Alexanders expedition were named and mentioned with a Greek name. I.e Persepolis= polis: city, Perse-: of the persians (there are more names but this was the capital of the "enemy"- it could hold a different name). How come Kashmir is an exeption?Another question about something you posted earlier on this thread. You still deny your slavic origins but you very proudly argue about the noble meaning of the name Slavs you insist that it means scholar or sth like this. Your alphabet is the cyrillic a derivative of the Glagolitic alphabet, credited to, Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius but the shapes of the glyphs in the Cyrillic alphabet are mainly Greek letters. Scholars that need to be taught THE ALPHABET?
According to some sources Slavs were named during the Roman times because they were often enslaved (from the Greek word "sclavos" : slave).I appologise for the length of my mail but as you understand there are many points you need to help us with. I wait for your answers.

Truly- I was delighted to read your post, and to be honest, for the first time it is without to much arrogance and so called nationalism- narcissism, so yes my friend you deserve spatial attention like most. We cannot waste time & space so letGÇÖs begin with ALEXANDER. First of all we must be realistic and to start with the original root of word. Since Alexander is Aleksandar in Macedonian, i.e. x=ks, and has simular pronunciation in English, the root of the word is LEK-S/ i.e. A-LEK/S-AN-DAR. So this word is with two roots LEK + DAR , and in Macedonian LEK = CURE FOR DISEASE, CURE/ MEDICINE and DAR means GIFT. It is same like PANDORA BOX, i.e. PAN=LORD, DORI/DARI/DAR=GIFT. So going back to ALEXANDER/ ALEKSANDAR, it means special person who has gift for something, in this case cure for the world problems and therefore vision/ cure, for better world as Universal Brotherhood of Man, GodGÇÖs WillGǪ (This is not to oppose other meanings of this word, like in Turkish is SKENDER- ISKENDER etc., but connections need to be made to come close to it, maybe in Greek/Helen is something else, but I am talking from Macedonian point of view, with absolutely no intentions what so ever to discredit or offend anyone. Sorry dear Vasko, but the language used by the ancient Macedonians was Greek. That is why all the inscriptions in ancient Macedonian cities are exclusively in the Greek alphabet (both grammatically and phonetically).
You might be a Macedonian, but you have absolutely no connection to the ancient Macedonians since you're a Slav. I see no point in you refusing your heritage. I can also bet that you don't live in FYROM. I have talked with people from Skopje here in Greece and they consider you people loonies that are more nationalists that VMRO, especially the ones living in Canada and Australia.
Today's FYROM is a "Macedonian salad" (as the French named it in the beginning of the century) with a mixed population of Albanians, Bulgarians, Serbs and a few Greeks in the Monastir area). This mix (excluding the Albanians that remained isolated) created modern "Macedonia"More over, the Arctic is not a continent :-)Please don't be discouraged, keep posting. We can all use some entertainment!
