ha ha good joke!
But if I only could I would do it ("if I were a rich man"). It would be great pleasure to host all of You and provide a life disscussion about "our" subiects. Unfotunately I'm not a rich man :-(((Maciek

Well, we have a meet up arranged in Bloomsbury on 21 November, tying in with the Stoneman lecture. So far I think it's me, WMP and Susan who are confirmed as going... but anyone else who is around and wishes to join in should come along.Karl, are you thinking about some time closer to Christmas? In which case, let's start thinking about dates, before our diaries get too full! All the bestMarcus

JohnThere is no problem in Iraq. The problem is elsewhere, you know.Thomas
As for where we could meet, well, there could be a kind of lottery :) :) But the country must allow all kinds of people, all races etc., like that concept - what is that? - the Brotherhood of Men. Europe is OK. Great Britain, i think. I like it very much.susa

No problem in Iraq? Tell that to Michael Wood. It was the only part of Alexander's empire he couldn't get into for his documentary, "In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great."???John

JohnCorrect me if i'm wrong - my copy of 'Footsteps' has a bad sound quality. What i understood from the 'helicopter' flight up the air in Iraq was that the fields where one of those battles [Gaugamela, i think] took place back in Alex's time is within the 'exclusion area' [is it the name?], where there are lots of foreign stuff, not really iraqi stuff. It's under the control of foreign power. Is it? I think it goes like that. Not sure, of course, i am not very much into politics/strategies/etc.susa

Hi Susa,Not quite as you put it. You see there're two "no flight zones" in Iraq. One in the South and one (much bigger) in the North of the country. In these zones Iraqi planes and helicopters aren't supposed to fly. The Northern one enclaves these sites but the ground command belong to the Iraqis. regards,
Yiannis

And this is sad that they didn't understood that he is only a historian and his aim is only to make so good film and not about their problems but people much more reasonable then they are.Maciek

It sure does sound fun, and if I were a rich man with time to burn (or at least a vacation) i'd love to join in this brewpub extravaganza...in the meantime, i'll throw in my choice for drink which is now my favorite beer...Warsteiner.

Oh no! Susa, don't tell me you're bringing your friends along as well? It's enough for us just to cope with you...I'll have to form a proper strategic alliance with John now, I reckon.:-)Marcus

Oh dear.I hope not, Marcus! I'm easygoing, you know. Strategies aren't really needed. And John is under threat of that bug - remember? [a bit of strategy is always ok, nope?]As for my friend, she's very nice, you know. But i'm hoping she won't be here. She likes to pick on people...:)susa

I'd forgotten about your bug threat, Susa... maybe I'm better off sticking on your side.I'm sure all your friends are very nice, and if she wants to pick on people she can just come and try it (he says, trying to sound tough). All the bestMarcus

Yea! Stick to my side and let's bother John together!!! As for my friend, i'll tell her what you said - about her comming and trying to pick on the Companions here. Let's see what she says about this. I think she'd better hide, nope? Or at least she should arm herself.....:) :) ;)susa
