Bucephalus was the parade horse, the pet. It is unlikely Alexander rode him into battle, especially considering his age - horses were too easily killed.I haven't seen the new trailer yet, but I believe Farrell is riding a black Freisian (sp?) I recall Rutger Hauer rode one in Ladyhawke. Beautiful, but looks nothing like what Alexander would have ridden, but they look lovely on celluloid.

Dear Mss XXX,I completely agree, the Frisian horse is what Collin Farrell probably rode in the movie.(a draft or work-horse) No doubt the ancient war charger were smaller but much faster almost equal to a thorough-bred. As far as Bucephalus being only used for show we'll never know. On this subject I have a tendency to respectfully disagree. If you're interested with my analysis let me know and I'll explain or you can wait for Sikander to finish my (our) re-write on Bucephalus.Regards, Andrew
