How did Alexander capture the ancient the city of Firuzabad?

The lake remained until the beginning of the 3rd century, when Ardashir, the first Sassanian monarch, drained it by destroying the dike. He built a new city, called it G++r, and made it the capital of one of the five great provinces or divisions of Fars. Do you know anything about it?

Hi Cyrus -This capture of Furuzabad is clearly part of Persian history. Is it Firdusi who mentions it? It is definitely not in the Greek/Roman classic western tradition. I can not recall any episode like this from Arrian, Curtius, Diodorus, Plutarch or Justin.Maybe it's in Josephus? Or in some minor source? That I don't know.Regards -
