To Karen and Gayle,I see I went too long again. But I had a character named Zion in a story I wrote years ago as the head of a detective agency, and I realized that Zeus Ammon is a possible clue to the name Zion. The female role was Cassandra. That was twenty years ago, and all that experiment in novel writing has proved to be prophetic. I have only the first draft, realizing that the book will never be published. I have come a long way since then. Thanks for bearing with me this morning. Jan

I want this to be hidden in this location for I have found an especially good Alexander site. It is named Royalty.nu, and it is at the bottom that it includes all the links on the web about Alexander. The one that I just finished reading is called the Problem of Alexander. It is very interesting as it has a question on his drinking.I must say that like Cabiri of NIghts of Cabiri, one drink puts me away, so I do not imbibe but very little. I have never had drinking as a problem except if I had one too many. Then I found the problem of the day after in hangovers so bad that I quit drinking altogether. I had to comment on this right after after admitted to having behaviorial traits so similar to ATG. What an admission! But this site is full of good links.

Simplistically but I think, poignantly, just one word, in the most broad and fullest of senses, says it all: his "HUMANITY". Will that ever be said 2000 years hence of the many aspiring conquerors of history, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, Saddam, to name but a few?

I'm not a historian or scholar or author...
I've never been in Greece, and probably never will be. Alas, alack!
I just find the stories fascinating. Although he had branded me from an early age, Renault lit a fuse and this forum, with the many of you who are historians and scholars, has fed the flames on a regular basis. My reading has become more history oriented thanks to the recommendations here.
My mother claims I'm in love with him...is that possible? Anyway, that's why I'm here.

Yes, I think we all are in love with him, though some of us may not admit it. ;)

Dear Sirs,
Here is why I am intrigued by this man, he represents what I call Leadership, the civilised world and my own ambition. And now your turn, I did not quite understand what you suggest with "fall for him."I am open for any discussion on Alexander the Great.

I've been searching for a copy of the video of "The Search For Alexander the Great" myself. Where did you finally find a copy? I've been searching high and low too!
