Heckel's "Marshals of ATG" text
Question: Is Heckel's "The Marshalls of ATG" the *only* text available that presents the characters in ATG's life? I presume his is the only substantially annotated/researched text, however, I'd like to know if there is another reliable text focusing on the people in Alexander's life.Cheers!
Re: Heckel's
The most thorough is probably Berve:Das Alexanderreich auf prosopographischer Grundlage (Munuch, 1926), 2 volumeswhich I believe lists everyone. It seems to be the standard work. I've never seen it though - I don't think it's the sort of book you get in bookshops. For the women there is Beth Carney - Women and Monarchy in Ancient Macedonia, although that's not really intended to be complete.Susan
Re: Heckel's
There is a copy of Berve on Abebooks.com it is in Kansas and costs $300 and of course it is all in German!Another possibility would be Pauly and someone's 'Der Realencyclpaedie des Classiche Alt-Terms' which is a monster work in German. and both are somewhat dated.
When you think about, it free-choice is the only possible option.
