where alexander the great was buried
I am doing an ancient history assignment on a fictional excavation. What evidence is there to suggest that alexander the great was not buried in alexandria but rather in pella (that is if there is any) no straight answesr needed just sources

Because his enbalmed body was carried in a magnificent funeral carriage, meant to be taken to Macedon but hijacked by Ptolmey and taken to Egypt.
He had supposedly wanted to be buried in Siwah. Evidently Ptolemy had the body placed in Alexandria and it was there at the time of the Romans. The point being "whoever held the body, held the power".
Robin Lane Fox's "Alexander the great" has a pix of this funeral carriage which was lugged from Babylon
almost a year after Alexander had died.

Yeah, basically, what Ruth says is true - there is no evidence that Alexander's body was taken to Pella, because it wasn't
. There is enough literary evidence that the body went to Alexandria for there really to be no argument about it.All the bestMarcus
