Hi Kenny,I think plenty of the actors are *supposed* to have Irish accents. Whether they succeeded or not I couldn't tell, not being enough of an expert to tell real from fake! But I did think that Val Kilmer's accent was pretty good ... but he's a good actor, and his portrayal of Philip was one of the highlights of the film.ATBMarcus

Way, way back, after the movie first came out, I read an interview with someone who had been an extra in the movie. He told how the men playing Alexander's soldiers were instructed to cry out greetings to Colin in as strong an Irish dialect as possible - this was during the scene where Alexander was riding up and down and reviewing the ranks.Apparently, after reviewing the rushes, Oliver realized they would have to dub that particularly day's shooting because multiple cries of "Top O' the morning to ya" could be heard in the background!I swear I didn't make this up! :-)Best regards,Amyntoros

Hi MarcusIll agree wholeheartedly that Kilmer was very good Indeed I saw philip. Maybe im sad but I thought the guy playing Cleutus was good down to earth no fus and argued his point and begrudgements well.Regadless of his accent he did Clietus well. As I would imaging an old hard minded gritty character. Having his say whilst on the booze.Parmenio was also good.I was very puzzled with a lot of the pre Gaugamella war council it was all disjointed. I mean when Alexander said to Parmenio. Babylon was his new home. When he hadnt even got there yet.If ever the thought was to do Alexander like the BBC series on Rome then we could have a good show.Kenny

Kenny, This is for you. I want you to know that there is a picture of Colin Farrell in the latest edition of Archaeology magazine, sporting his look as John Smith. An article about Pocohantas is the reason for the photo. He looks good in it, long hair, and bearded look. Also, in the same magazine is an article about the famous Mosaic of Pompeii. This artist seems to think that the battle is not of Issus but rather of Gaugemela. Makes a good case too.
