Relief and Inscription Found in the Palace of Darius

Post by Cyrus »

http://www.chn.ir/english/eshownews.asp?no=4939It says "The face part of the relief is completely destroyed, and scholars believe that invaders ruined the relief before moving on toward Persepolis, today located in Fars province."But this palace of Darius is in the south of Persepolis near the Persian gulf, so I don't think that Alexander has visited it.

Interesting,Cyrus.I hope that more specific detail is available in the near future.Alexander was always wary of respecting Persian history when it did not conflict with his role as leader of Greece and protecting his position vis-a-vis Antipater whom he never trusted after Gaugamela. That is why Persepolis was destroyed. But when there was wanton destruction such as at Cyrus The Great's tomb at Pasargadai he ordered repair work to be carried out immediatelty.
