Companions, HiIve never reviewed a book,, But Ill try give my opinion on the above mentioned book,, Please excuse and gramma mistakes.Initially I was put off by Andrews negative and dismisive views on Alexanders so called atrocities. Tyre,Thebes and Clietus as we all know these issues were a little more than Alexander been ruthless for the hell of it.I found the initial chapters tracing the body from death up to it maybe resting in Alexandria very informative. The prominent point been Ptolemy putting himself out to yield to Alexanders maybe last wishes. As Andrew says maybe Ptolemy was his brother and doing the best he could for his brothers memory.Up until the period where Alexander was last reported historically around 350 ad was very good we gat the Caesars and there pranks and the Sargophacus now in the British Museum. However the middle section 80-100 pages really got me a bit borred it was basic speculation too much topography. The maps confusing as there were numbers or letters on the maps in connection with the map reference numbers. The basic view of vandalism,Religios or natural disasters really says that anything could have happened to the body and tomb. The St Mark Idea was in the latterstages of the book and really too brief giving me the idea Andrews got another book up his sleeve. The argument for the theory are pretty sound,, And probably unfounded.Howevere the fact that St Mark was burned and the body turned up at the time Alexander went missing is worth looking into,if only to disprove. If the body can be found to be Alexander the irony is crazy. It was said it wouldnt be the first time christain icons were replaced by so called pagan relics. Its weel known that medievil effigies of christ are actually Alexander. It would be more Ironic the St Mark is actually Alexander and that in the end Alexander thumbs his nose at exclusive and puritanical Christians.Does anyone in Pothos knoew the developments towards examining the body of st Mark,, are there obstacles Religiously or Politically standing in its way,,,In any case it deserves a look.Any opinions on this matter I would welcome as I for one dont dismiss it andis indeed worth a look todays technology im sure would be able to tell if its him.Sorry if my opinions are negative Andrew but that what I thought.
