Selfish,,, Bring On the DVD.
Hi FolksI guess its kinda selfish,, But I am kinda hoping the movie stops showing at the Cinema so the new version can be on DVD quicker.Maybe I am an action freak,, We all know the history etc and it will be good to watch the fantastic action scenes over and over,, I am trying to put the battle scene of Gaugamella into the all time battle scenes into order maybe,,, Im trying to decide if its at the top.Heres my top 10 any others? No particular order.Battle scene EL CID where he takes an arrowHelms DeepReturn Of The KingGladiator opening BattleFall of the Roman EmpireZulu DawnWaterlooAlexanderTaras bulbaSpartacus.I guess Alexander is the top for realism and the music carries it.Kenny
Re: Selfish,,, Bring On the DVD.
Kenny, I agree with you. I was so worked up over the movie, because of expectations and the excitment of there finally being an Alexander movie (a new one)that I missed a lot. I want so much to see it again. Maybe a lot of people should have seen it again for the second time. With all the negative reactions towards it, no one will ever want to make another movie about Alexander again. And that would be, such a shame.lightofdawn

Me too. And I hope Oliver doesn't alter it like he suggested. I am so anxious to see the director's cuts.

youre forgetting the battle of stirling in braveheart, though it wasnt too accurate. still it was awesome and i believe thanks to braveheart gladiator would not have been made and therefore swords and sandals movies would not have taken off.

Hi Kenny,I think I'd agree with everything on your list, although there are a couple of small skirmishes in El Cid, too, which shouldn't be forgotten. When you say "Return of the King", I presume you mean *all* the battles in that? Because they all deserve to be there ... although to some extent I suppose they're all part of the same fight.Although it's more modern, I'd also vote for the battle by the river in "Last of the Mohicans" - much as I'd rather see swords than muskets, most of the time.I'd also like to put in a bid for the battles in "King Arthur" (Director's Cut especially).Bear in mind that Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of God", about the Crusades, is out this year. I reckon that will get on the list. All the bestMarcus

Do not hold your breath for the full version on DVD. On other websites "dreamworksfansite.com" for example it appears the DVD version may be even shorter than the film we saw in the cinema. It seems that Stone wants to make a DVD version aimed at 15 - 16 years old. I have never heard of "shorter" versions of films on DVDs, but who knows?? We just shall have to wait and see. I personally hope that it will be the "full" version. Terribly disappointing if it will be an even shorter one. A bit of a useless exercise, I think.

Marcus HailI forgot Last of the Mohicans I thought the Skill and man to man brilliant where The Hurons Ambushed the Soldiers was Superb.Luis I thought I mentioned Braveheart,, Your spot on with the inaccuracies and those inacuracies make it rather disapointing when you saw the cavalry charge,, In reality WQallace ambushed pockets of English as the crossed the bridge to take up positions so indeed way out.Kenny

Indeed! and Stirling Bridge had no CGI
I thought CF was pretty near Gibsons Wallace - some of the facial expressions were familiar

I am hoping there will be a few versions of the film available. I would hope they would leave the film intact for those of us who want to see the original version, with bonus features like deleted scenes. I am not so sure at this point, if Stone will add the deleted scenes into the film. It would be great if he did, but I am not holding my breath for that one, seeing what the film did at the box office.
In Germany they are getting the DVD in May, with a 2 disc deluxe version of the film (I am not from Germany, I read it on another site. I don't know exeactly what the German version includes). I am hoping we will get the same treatment in the US. I certainly hope Stone realizes that there are some of us who still want to see the theatrical version of the film, without it being hacked!
I see you have been on the Dreamworks forum, Julia. Stop by and say "hi" sometime. I am the nutty Alexander forum moderator over there.

Hi Kenny, I just watched Red Badge of Courage starring Audie Murphy, and for an 89 minute black and white film, it is one of the best wartime movies MGM has released. I loved it! You should treat yourself to this one.
