Tsunami and Quake Roll Call

Post by Nax »

I know this is an "international" forum & that some members and/or their families are in countries hit by the tsunami. I hope that everyone on the forum and their families are safe. Also sending my sympathy for those people & nations hit so hard, for any loved ones lost & hopes that aid can get there quickly to prevent more losses.

I went to Sri Lanka in November, partly to look for traces of the Alexander legend. My friend out there runs a pilgrim shrine for Buddhists, Hindus & Muslims; he is now doing relief work.I was woken on 26th December by an SMS from him to tell me of the tidal wave; and in his latest, today, he says: " I just landed by sea plane in Galee with German TV. You don't have to look far for destruction for it is everywhere. "Like in Falluja", says an ABC reporter."Six weeks ago I was having an ice-cream with him on the walls of Galle Fort; now it's a scene of destruction. So, the Pothos forum isn't so far from events today.Susan

I was supposed to go to Sri Lanka and Kerala in January, but that's obviously out of the question now. A workmate of mine is still missing, and my thoughts are with her, her son who is with her, and everyone else affected by the disaster. All the best,Neneh
