New Book Top-10 - Jona's Follow Up

Hi Companions ---Over Christmas I will revise the Book Top-10, as Jona suggested (see Jona's post). Now my idea is to stick to "modern" publications (excluding Plutarch, Curtius etcetera). You all know that I love the original sources, but the Top-10 should be primarily helpful for those people who walk around in their local bookstore and can't decide what to buy first.The procedure I would suggest:Reply to this post and list five books you think should be definitely in the pothos.org Top-10. I will collect all the results and edit the Top-10.To start with, here is my list:1. Holt, Elephant Medallions (for being the most original book about Alexander)2. Heckel, Marshals (because I still consult this one very regularly)3. Carney, Women & Monarchy (very same reason)4. Briant, Cyrus to Alexander (I think the nature of the Persian Empire is the enigma that makes Alexander's conquests so fascinating)5.
