Arrogant and disrespectful? Linda, I would atrtribute these characteristics to you based on your reply, not what I wrote. Drop it down a notch or do me the favor of not responding to something I've written.

I tried to put in jokily, but I do think you were being disrespectful to (some) scientists, by saying that they always find what they were looking for. A hugely sweeping statement that knocks everyone who was talking about genetics for six by saying that there was no point in any sort of scientific investigation ?! Even if you did say "in your experience", but you then didn't go on to say what that experience was. Come on - you can't venture that opinion and expect people to nod in agreement..I think that is a fair comment on my part. I'll use "dismissive" rather than disrespectful. Calling you arrogant was maybe over the top - although I think I said it was an arrogant opinion brusque might be a better word. I apologise for that. And, you could just not read my replies to your posts...I did ask you once not to put me down in your posts - and you sent mean very polite apology. Well I am doing the same - it isn't personal - it is the opinions expressed I disagree with. But I would never say not to reply to my posts. That isn't something you can request - can we all make a list of the people we want to reply to our posts and those we don't? We can chose what we read only. Come on...

Linda, I have never put you down in a post - it's a figment of your imagination. I apologized last time because you misinterpreted what I said. However you did directly insult me in your last post and that's quite different. Don't b.s. me with the 'joke' thing. You meant exactly what you wrote. Now if you want to give an intelligent reply on topic and without personal jabs I would be happy to respond to that. But apparently that's not the point of your post anyway, so let's move on.

Hello xxxAnother problem is that often results which conflict with establishment views are discouraged by the fear of loss of tenure, loss of prestige, and/or loss of funding. It takes courage to give people results they don't want. In the topic in question, which has gone the rounds here on numerous occasions in different formats, what would happen, I wonder, if the DNA tests proved that the Ancient Macedonians were not as closely related to the present populations as those present populations would like?
This has happened where other studies have been made so caveat emptor!Cheers

Fine. I never want things to be personal. I said "such disrespect". It was a joke. But the point was valid. I still think that - you made a dismissive mostly unqualified statement, which I challenged. I didn't say that you were an idiot, or whatever. You haven't addressed the points about why you think science is crap, but never mind.Agreed. Let's move on.Linda
