i just took the alexander quiz on this website. i did good at first but then failed miserably. one of the questions asked is which card represents alexander. ace of spades and so on. id like to know the answer.

found the answer. very interesting.Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history. Spades -King David, Clubs -Alexander the Great, Hearts - Charlemagne, and Diamonds -Julius Caesar.

What is the symbolism behind the designated cards and when did this corrolation occur?

This is all a matter of non-scientific approaches, European symbols dating from ages ago, but you can find all your answers by searching Google. In general the colours of the playing deck are believed to represent the following 'nations':Spades - the Jewish people (King David is King of Spades)Diamonds - the Classic Roman Empire (Julius Caesar is King of Diamonds)Hearts - the Christian Holy Roman Empire (Charlemagne is King of Hearts)Clubs - the Ancient Greeks, and more specifically: the class of farmers amongst human beings (thus Alexander is King of Clubs)Well, it is called a "Trivia" quiz after all.Regards ---Nick
