Donald Trump's Alexander the Great Suite
Hello All,I was just watching some entertainment show the other night and they actually took a tour of the Alexander the Great suite at the top of one of his ritzy hotels in Vegas. Unfortunately, the camera didn't pan the room, and we only get quick images and glancing shots of the decor. From what I could tell, there was some battle scene painting wall murals and lots of gold.later Nicator

What next!!!??? Considering the soon-to-be-released movie, it seems that people (like Trump) will go to any lengths to get onto the bandwagon. Alexander, I am sure, would turn over in his grave!

Re: Donald Trump's Alexander the Great Suite
I'm not so sure. After the Battle of Issus,Nothing was wanting to complete this victory, in which he overthrew above an hundred and ten thousand of his enemies, but the taking the person of Darius, who escaped very narrowly by flight. However, having taken his chariot and his bow, he returned from pursuing him, and found his own men busy in pillaging the barbarians' camp, which (though to disburden themselves they had left most of their baggage at Damascus) was exceedingly rich. But Darius's tent, which was full of splendid furniture and quantities of gold and silver, they reserved for Alexander himself, who, after he had put off his arms, went to bathe himself saying, "Let us now cleanse ourselves from the toils of war in the bath of Darius." "Not so," replied one of his followers, "but in Alexander's rather; for the property of the conquered is and should be called the conqueror's." Here, when he beheld the bathing vessels, the water-pots, the pans, and the ointment boxes, all of gold curiously wrought, and smelt the fragrant odours with which the whole place was exquisitely perfumed, and from thence passed into a pavilion of great size and height, where the couches and tables and preparations for an entertainment were perfectly magnificent, he turned to those about him and said, "This, it seems, is royalty." I have a feeling that all anyone would find for their $259 is this from:http://benbrowder.net/history.htm"THE TRUE STORY OF ALEXANDER -- Premieres 4th Quarter, Three Hours --He was the greatest General the world has ever known. In only 32 years of his life, Alexander changed the course of civilization forever. This sweeping special shows how one young man conquered and transformed the known world in just thirteen years -- 336 BC to 323 BC.-á But opinions of this man rage on as mightily as his empire once did.-á Was he the great civilizer of the East or a destroyer of ancient cultures?-á Was he a leader or a tyrant?-á A defender or a murderer? Movie tie-in with the Warner Bros. film."Now the Onassis Cultural Center in NYC is opening an exhibit on Alexander in November. Their previous exhibitions on ancient Greece have included artifacts from museums all over the world, so this is one movie tie-in that I'm really looking forward to. :-)Linda Ann

Thank you Later Nicater & Linda,You don't know how many times I would surf by the History Channel to see if there's anything on ATG and always to no avail.
Re: Donald Trump's Alexander the Great Suite
Last night on the show The Apprentice, Kwame and his entourage had access to the Alexander the Great suite at the Taj Mahal Casino. There were several shots of the interior of the suite, which boasted massive king size beds with bold purple breadspreads, and giant chandeliers. It was most impressive as the guest star was Jessica Simpson, who apparently used the suite as her own. I thought of you and this post immediately. It was sure swell of Donald Trump to advertise this special suite in this manner, so that any and all high rollers in this group who want to play games in Atlantic city know where to go now.
