Twelve Altars along the Hydapses

Post by jan »

I am most intrigued by the erection of the twelve altars that alexander had placed to show how far he had traveled in his journey in India. It appears that they no longer exist. Does anyone know anything about these? thanks

HiDr Pal has a theory that they were GÇ£recycledGÇ¥ by the Mauryans (right now I canGÇÖt remember if by Chandragupta or by Asoka, though I think more likely it is Chandragupta).I donGÇÖt remember Dr PalGÇÖs website address, but you probably can ask him directly or search for it in the forum search engine.
Kind regardsAlejandro

Thank you, Miguel, and I will try to do what you have suggested. I appreciate your kindness. My condolences for the action in Madrid. It saddens me to realize what is happening today.

Hi allI realized that some of you sent me messages related to the unfortunate attacks in Madrid a few days ago. I think that, my name being Spanish, you thought I was from Spain. Actually I am not, IGÇÖm from South America, and so neither I nor my family/friends were subject of the attack. However, I appreciate your concerns, and I also add my voice to the ones of those who condemn these coward and unexcusable actions.Kind regardsAlejandro

Thanks for the explanation, Miguel. You are quite right in clarifying the assumption. With the use of the Palacio station, they might have thought it was about me. I learned a lot from that attack and its relevancy to me. Adios! JC
