A German coin dated about 1800 showing Alexander and added to my collection. The internet makes it so easy to buy things.

It was minted in Nuremberg, which in the 11th cent was the home of one of the Holy Roman Emperors. I think this was probably minted when Nuremberg was at the height of its power before it became part of the kingdom of Bavaria but I don't know enough to know why they would put Alexander on a penny piece.

That's a very nice piece. I'm sure putting Alexander on their coin had a symbolic meaning. They probably wanted to capitalize on the power of the image of Alexander. That'd be my guess anyway.
