Good points about Caesar, Nicator - sounds as if you have good train-journey discussions. There is no evidence for this. It is most likely that Ptolemy started this story when he took over Egypt after Alexander's death - 'proving' such a link to Alexander was designed to give Ptolemy legitimacy in his rule.
