I am alive but rarely here so sorry for the long delay.

I searched on author smitty* (note the *) and got 421 posts dating back to 2003). Maybe that was your problem. You also need to set it to find posts not topics for it to work finding individual posts.

Well, there has always been the aura of lunacy around some Alexander followers... Currently 1 in 4 of voters think he was an alien.

POLL: Alexander was an alien?

I was tickled by Efstathios' suggestion for a poll so went with it.

You will not believe some of the emails I have had over the years as web master (no less than three from reincarnated Alexanders in the same year), so I am half expecting the "extraterrestrial" option to come out top. :P

Yes, I checked that...

...and you are right. It seems that deleting from your outbox deletes the mail from their inbox and it is lost for ever.

I have worked out how to add something to the FAQ and you can see my attempt at writing an FAQ entry here.

But I replied two days ago...

...so did you not check your messages until today?

For the record, my message to you has disappeared from the outbox. So I am guessing you have read it!

PM re-enabled

I have reenabled private messaging. Please comment in this thread if you have any success/failure. We'll keep an eye on it... N.B. I just read up on this, the theory is this (not that I quite believe this): If a message is in your out box it means that the message has not been read by the person it ...

Kill the messenger

I don't think I would have wanted to be the messenger. Probably would have been sent off with the words "Take this happy news to Alexandros"...

Private messages...

I have disabled private messages because of some apparent or percieved anomolies in their behaviour. Could pothosians please comment on their experiences with private messages, both good and bad. For my 2p's worth, I found them quite reliable, but occasionally I got a server error and had to click b...

I hate to be a pedant, but isn't that three words? "genius" and "eternal legend"

Still, much better than 4 sentences.

How about "ruthless visionary" for two words?

My 2p's worth

The most precocious leader of the ancient world who's influence still resonates today. A man who achieved through his deeds god-like status and then fell, like many powerful leaders, in to the trap of absolute power corrupting absolutely. There, that should light a few flames <donning tin helmet>. :...

What I expected

I have long thought that it would be nice to own a coin from this time.

But the prices are what I expected. Which is why I have never looked in to it too hard.
