To Amyntoros
Greetings Amyntoros, You said: "I freely offered on this forum (more than once) to send it as an email attachment, figuring that anyone truly inclined to assess the evidence for themselves would welcome the opportunity." I believe I received one of these attachments (but would not mind rec...

To Derek
Greetings Derek, One of the most difficult things to do is open yourself to a critique by anyone who has an avid interest in whatever subject you have chosen to write about. Thank you for letting us know about your books. I hope you will allow us to post some reviews on the Pothos site once members ...

More on book
Greetings, "Particularly armchair Generals for a failed war. " What makes the book interesting - and perhaps sadly amusing- is to read it and then compare leadership styles in today's situations, also.. but then, when one has a personal physical stake in the results, one might tend to be m...

Command
Greetings Kenny, Another book that explores the changing face of military leadership, including how Alexander led, is John Keegan's "The MAsk of Command". It gives an interesting account of how changing technologies and military philosophies have changed how generals involve themselves in ...

Logistics
Greetings Kenny, I usually suggest a reading of Engels "Alexander the Great and the Logistics of the Macedonian Army" as a start. I know some of his conclusions are in debate at this time but it is still a good place to begin. Have you had an opportunity to read this work? Regards, Sikander

Vanishing Posts
Greetings All, Just to reassure everyone: when posts disappear without explanation,, it is usually either operator error or an internet fluke, not a moderator. In most cases, the posts never make it to the forum. Unless a post personally attacks another poster, uses inappropriate language or address...

The Hand
Greetings Kenny,
My apologies for being late in a reply.
A hand represents 4 inches and is the measurement used to measure a horse from the ground to its withers.
Regards,
Sikander

Bagoas
Greetings Rex, "One of the main points in Ranajit Pal's Non-Jonesian Indology and Alexander is that Bagoas the Eunuch (as opposed to Bagoas the boy toy Twisted Evil ) was that he survived and attached himself to Alexander as he headed toward India. It's a very fascinating view, IMHO." Yes,...

Quick question
Greetings,
This is just a quick question: can anyone give an example of the Yagnobi language (which is supposed to be directly descended from the Sogdian) *and*, does anyone here know at which time it would have begun branching off from the original Sogdian?
Regards,
Sikander
