Need Info. re Possible Relative of Hefestion's...
I'm looking for information, (which I once my fingers on, but have since lost) that a relative of Hefestion's may have turned up at Babylon after Alexander's death. As I recall from memory - unfortunately, I don't have my docs in front of me (everything's packed for moving) there is or was some spec...

Re: Visit to Greece re Research on Novel
Hi, To everyone who was good enough to reply to this topic thank you so much! I have plenty of ideas of my own, yes, Pella and Vergina are a must as are Athens, Delphi, etc., but some of you came up with other ideas I hadn't thought of. Horseback riding in the Berminos Mountains for one. I"ve b...

Visit to Greece re Research on Novel
I am planning a trip to Greece in the summer for further research on my novel. Besides the obvious places, does anyone have any comments, suggestions on places that might be worth seeing re Alexander? Obviously, I cannot visit every little plot of land Alexander and his pals might have walked on, bu...

Re: Herakles son of Barsine & Alexander?
Marcus' comments at the end about the possibility of Alexander keeping Herakles away from the army, generals, etc., is something I had been considering for a while. The idea makes sense and is in keeping with the researching I've been doing for my novel. I should add, Lysis, that I'm not entirely c...

Re: Herakles son of Barsine & Alexander?
Thanks to both Scott and Marcus for sharing their information re this post. It pretty much went along with what I thought, however, it's always good to check and see if there is something one might have missed or forgotten along the way. Marcus' comments at the end about the possibility of Alexander...

Herakles son of Barsine & Alexander?
This post would probably be best directed to Scott Oden, since he seems to the be resident expert on all things "Barsine & Memon & Alexander" so to speak. :) However, I am curious as to how others view Herakles the son Barsine is said to have had by Alexander. I know that of the Su...

Re: Personality test.
I think a lot of Sikander's comments made a good deal of sense. Alexander appeals to those of us admire, him or whatever for different reasons, and those of course are based on our own ideas, dreams and desires, etc. I also agree with his view of modern psychology...sometimes I think my cat would be...

Re: Personality test.
I just came across this fascinating post. In way, of commenting on it, I'd like to intrude a bit with a little incident that I once had. I had the dubious "honor" of speaking with a serial killer once. (that's a story for another life) Anyway, what was interesting was his perspective of th...

Re: Horrible Histories
I just stumbled on this post. It was hysterical and reminded me way too much of Monty Python. I wonder if one of them was behind it. Come to think of it I wonder why they never took a shook at Alexander? Anyway, this more than made up for it. It made my day.

Re: Alexander's Discretion & Hephaistion
Hi to everyone, Something in Chris' post really caught my eye. I've wondered where exactly, and how did Hephaistion garner such an unpopular image? :? We know of his troubles with Krateros, Eummenes, Chares, but otherwise there is no mention of him doing anything really terrible. Alexander trusted h...

Re: NEWLY PUBLISHED NOVEL ON ALEXANDER & HEPHAISTION
Hi Sikander, Many thanks for your kind comments. Yes, already I have picked up some good suggestions, etc., from other writers and am most appreciative of their help. I think half of writing is learning, and as far as I can see, there is still much to learn. I read everyone who has published anythin...

Re: Writing how to present Ptolemy's relationship to Alex.
Thanks Derek, Your comments made excellent sense. It's a difficult subject because it seems that since Renault everyone seems to sort have taken whatever or however she has presented Alexander and his Companions, etc., as gospel - at least as historical literature, and the same theme seems to follow...

Re: Writing how to present Ptolemy's relationship to Alex.
I have a question I'd like to hear from other people who write about Alexander, if they are willing to share. How do you explain Ptolemy in relation to Alexander to your prospective readers? We all know the "supposed" speculation regarding Ptolemy's familial relationship to Alexander, some...

Re: My novel "Shadow of the Lion"
Hello to you Ruth, I was checking out the website re your new novel. It looks fascinating and really got my attention and interest. I look forward to it. I didn't care a great deal for Renault's "Funeral Games." The way you presented the story to the prospective reader is really nice, esp....

Re: A Tibetan dzi bead in M. Olympus
This is my second attempt at this post, my dog knocked over my computer and I lost the first. I think this is fascinating. I can't begin to imagine how it got there from high up in Tibet to that isolated location in Greece. Perhaps one of Alexander's soliders did bring it back from one of the campag...
