Re: Tyre siege.

I am one of the minority who maybe thinks the Beas mutiny was a blessing for Alexander////It meant he could do what Alexanders propoganda says he would never do....Turn back I have never even looked at it that way before. It seems plausible. I have always had the more narrow view that he simply wan...

Re: Tyre siege.

Marcus, Thank you for clearing that up. As soon as Amyntoros questioned my statement I began to question it myself. So thanks for saving me from having to duck out of work early in order to look this up and put my mind at ease. :D Amyntoros, My apologies for confusing the situation. But hopefully I ...

Re: Tyre siege.

Sikander, Thank you for the Image! That is a great shot. All the ones I've seen have been fairly recent and it is far more populated nowdays. It seems like you can almost see where they built upon where the mole was originally placed. Which seems to be more to the north than dead center. I'm sure th...

Re: Tyre siege.

Also the statues left at beas before he returned. If they were carved from Stone and as big as the wanted, shouldnt be too hard to find..But as they may have been made hastily perhaps were only made of timber Maybe it was just the way it was worded when I read about the statues at Beas but for some ...

Re: Tyre siege.

Bessusww, I know they have had digs going on at Tyre in recent days. I'm just not sure if they are specific to Alexander. Tyre has been a hotspot for a very long time and has been built and rebuilt so often that many different people are interested in many different eras buried there. But I couldn't...

Re: Tyre siege.

Marcus, I was wondering if you ever got to visit Tyre or not. I've always been told about the instability as well, and warned that its not a good idea to travel there. Id like to go anyway but the red tape is too much to bare. I knew the mole still existed deep down but didn't know there were still ...

Tyre siege.

Does anyone know where to find some good images of what Tyre looks like in modern day? And if there are any ruins from Alexanders day still standing? I do know of Roman ruins but cannot find anything that is said to be older than that. Even ancient ruins in old Tyre on the mainland would be great if...

Re: POLL: Alexander map, volunteers and Ideas.

Only just seen this but happy to bore the bejesus out of people with logistic/source problems; it would be a good way of showing how the army frequently split in between battles too, something other maps tend to ignore apart from Krateros avoiding Gedrosia. Agesilaos, thanks for the suggestion. And...

alexander map, suggestions and help.

Greetings all, So I've had this idea floating around the comments forum for about a week now and I was given the suggestion to put it here in the main forum, the gist of the story is I'm wanting to put together an interactive Alexander map for Pothos. What separates this from all the other Alexander...

Re: POLL: Alexander map, volunteers and Ideas.

Sikander, Thank you very much for offering to contribute to the map project. I think it will become a very fun and useful addition to Pothos. I have a couple ideas on how to get it all up and going, and I also have people who can help when needed. Time is my only issue, but I'm sure I can get a foun...

POLL: Alexander map, volunteers and Ideas.

I'm taking this poll to see if anyone would be interested in collaborating on an Alexander map for Pothos. The map would consist of having all of Alexanders known stops from Macedonia to his final stop in Babylon. The viewer will be able to click on any city or area of the Campaign trail and be able...

Re: alexander map.

Sikander, Thank you for the good words. I at least have enough knowledge to get a foundation going and I can find help when its needed. Ill take a poll here on pothos soon to see if anyone has expertise to help accomplish this project. Even just some ideas here and there would be helpful. I have man...
