Revealing the true self

I decided to use my real name instead of "webmaster" and have added my motto and coat of arms for good measure.

I am also going to assign this ID to all the thomaswp posts - even I am getting confused...

Imigrants...

And William the Conqueror arrived from Brittany which is in France but was British at that time...

...didn't I say that European history is complicated! Who would want to teach it?

How did the infamous essay go? You never asked for help, so I am assuming it is brilliant?

Keep on keeping on...

You must be getting there slowly to post! And Philip is a prince of Greece, but this does not necessarily mean that he is Greek because of the complexities of European history. He is a British citizen and served in the British armed forces. But, he was born in Greece though his family is Danish/Germ...

POLL: Alexander - good or bad?

I have added the new "global" pothos poll, so please vote on whether Alexander was a good or bad person.

I think next time I will use the poll functionality in this forum, but for now I will stick with the old (new) functionality. Let me know if there are any problems.

I have checked in the database

As far as I can tell from the database, you should be receiving no notifications at all.

Can you forward any you get to webmaster-at-pothos-dot-co-uk?

Thanks - I like a challenge.

Year 9s the worst...

...in my first year of teaching for sure. Nightmarish class, not helped by the child of my nemesis being in the class and accusing me of forcing him to eat plasticene off the floor. Can you imagine anything so surreal happening in a classroom. Nowadays I find that the worst class is either year 9 or...

Notifications

I think that it is quite "clever" on notifications. I don't think it sends more than one email if there are a lot of posts in a shor time on the same topic, since you would get a clogged up inbox. Below this posting box there is that check box "Notify me when a reply is posted". ...

(Without wanting to create a new split thread) - low expectations with year 8? Surely they are the best year of all? Past the first year foibles but still malleable!

Re: Here's mine:

Alexander and the great Chinese general Sun Tzu, author of The Art of War , might have been contemporaries. If Alexander had gotten that far and they'd fielded armies against each other, who would have won? I think that we need to remember that many people who vote will know as little as me about A...

Suggestions for a new poll?

Anyone got any ideas for a new poll? Here are some suggestions:
  • How many Alexander books in your collection?
  • I came to this site because...
  • Alexander's most stupid act was...
  • Alexander's greatest act was...
Sure the companions will think of others...

Locking this thread

I am locking this thread because it is now a bit out of date. Thank you SO much for the generous donations that have secured pothos for nearly another two years. The google ads are doing OK now, and if things pick up in as the holidays end, the site may well be self-supporting. If that happens (glor...
