Re: How Old Would Be Too Old?

I thought I would bring this topic up regarding Alexander been dead by 32. I think this with reflection to old age. Over the last 2 weeks I have done some voluntary cooking in a local care home who seem to be struggling finding a cook. To be totally honest it has been an eye opener and to be pretty...

Well the Smithsonian magazine has now put the Parthenon restoration on their cover and dedicated 8 pages to it. There are pictures from 1910 , present day and computer generated photos of what it may have looked like thousands of years ago. the article talks about how restoration efforts started in ...

It was driving me crazy about what book had the information about who took care of Alexander's body so I had to go through my stack of books and I found one- it is Andrew's book page 15. I know it's in more books than this one as well. It's important to know who took care of Alexander's body because...

I for one am for finding Alexander's remains. I think it would be a very important discovery and would kindle interest in our past. One of the most important finds ever was of course King Tut's tomb. I can't speak for Egyptian's but from what I've witnessed it has helped their economy and many peopl...

All in all I liked the movie too and agree Stone had some restraints to work with. I thought the final cut was so much better and should have been the version we saw in theaters. So what if there would have been an intermission, I wouldn't have complained. I remember seeing Braveheart and they had a...

I feel I need to touch on this yet again. I just learned that my daughters class is still studying ancient Greece. They are now learning about Greece's Golden Age. They have also studied Sparta and learned how their civilization was different from the other Greek cities. My daughter is finding Spart...

Re: I have seen the face that could possibly be Alexander

I know this post will be laughed at,but believe me a chance discovery was made recently I cant go into detail of the find spot but all I can say at present is that a sarcophagus was found which had a roofed lid , when this was removed the contents of the base was covered in glass, completly intact,...

Thesius I like your style and dedication. The Doors connection is interesting. Did you know Jim Morrison fashioned himself on Alexander the way he stood and tilted his head. I like some Doors stuff and find Jim Morrison fascinating. Ive read a few bits and to be honest the guy was pretty complicate...

An Interest in Ancient Greek. Could I please try and find an answers my friends. I would base a lack of onterest on the society as a whole and to be fair its a condemnation of society and Christmas celebrations are a prime example. People as a whole in our societies are not interesred in learning a...

Vergina, We are again in agreement! It really seems a lot of children these days are very interested in things that just really don't matter, Britany Spears her sister, Paris Hilton, what do these people do for our society? Will they be remembered in 2000 years, of course not. I know we find it hard...

Just seeing this magnificent building on tv leaves one in awe and I can hardly imagine it's beauty in person. Although it's color's have gone and it's partially destroyed, it is a beautiful building. When it was built and for a long time it was full of colors. Even the figures on the marbles had co...

As luck would have it the History Channel International was airing "Engineering and Empire" and it was about Greece. They talked about the construction of the Parthenon. Just seeing this magnificent building on tv leaves one in awe and I can hardly imagine it's beauty in person.

If they didnt give them away then they did very little to stop it happening. If someone wasraiding my house id fight tooth and nail to protect what is mine. K...
