Re: Need your opinions on adding Sub forums.

So true Marcus! There are so many ways to link these historical figures to Alexander. Maybe we should start a topic called 7 degree's of Alexander and try to link some of these historical figures to him. You already have a good start.

Re:

I came out as Alexander too, bummer; I was hoping for Lysimachos - a philisophical brute with military flair and no luck with the girlies. Was he an option? Ahhh a Lysimachos admirer?! I find Lysimachos very interesting. The coins that were put out during his reign were some of the nicest. It is sa...

Re: Need your opinions on adding Sub forums.

All day I've been thinking of the idea of the sub forums and it really excites me. I would love to discuss other characters from ancient Greece such as the original owner of my user name, Theseus. How about Pericles and Pelopidas? Theseus has so much mythology mixed in with him since he was one of t...

Re: Need your opinions on adding Sub forums.

I agree that there would be great discussions to be had on Demosthenes, Homer, ect. Medieval perceptions of Alexander would be most interesting! It is amazing how much influence Alexander had after his death and I would say continues to have even in our time. Yes, I would hope most of us would have ...

Re: Barsine

I always like a good read and this book sounds like something I'd enjoy. I've found a copy for $75.00 but am still searching. I am not one to get "hung" up over the cost of something like this so I won't search for long. Thanks for the information on this book. I should always come here fo...

Re: Alexander's speed

Amyntoros has brought up a very interesting idea. What if Alexander did keep a journal. Can you imagine having insight into how he thought?! How he planned his battles? Who would have been in charge of keeping it safe? Would it have been kept with his copy of the Iliad? Who knows, maybe he did have ...

This was fun. I got Alexander:

Re: Need your opinions on adding Sub forums.

I think Amyntoros had some good points. I know that in the past I have not posted a topic because it was not directly linked to Alexander. I feel it would attract more people if we broaden the topics we can discuss. While Alexander will always be my favorite subject to discuss it would be nice to ta...

Military History special edition Heroes of Ancient Greece

I came across this wonderful magazine that is put out by Military History. This issue covers the Heroes of Ancient Greece and Rome. This magazine has beautiful pictures of the Alexander Sarcophagus, illustrations of the Greek's arsenal, Greek Phalanx, Triremes, catapults ect... It's a very interesti...

Thanks for posting these links Marcus. It's great to see that there is still so much interest in these amazing tombs. I was excited to read the part about Alexander IV as well. It's amazing that some of the details which helped them sort this all out had been overlooked for so long. I have been out ...

The show didn't say that it was Hellebore by itself that caused Alexander's death in their research/opinion. They did say that Alexander did have the best phycisians of the time. I took what they were trying to say as that Alexander was in ill health to begin with (possibly from the injuries and his...

These people researched what poisons were around back then and also the effects the poison has on the body. Hellebore was known to be around back then and they had information from that time period on the dosing used by physicians. I know other shows have done the same thing as well. I feel these pe...

Okay I did find one airing of this show but it's on a channel that I'm not sure I even get. It's called I.D. Investigation Discovery, it is one of the branches of the Discovery channel. It is set to air on May 16th at 5:00 am est. I will check periodically to see if it will re-air on another channel...
