I found this article and it's not directly linked to Alexander, but it is from the magnificent city he founded and I found it very interesting. This happened very recently- Dec 17th.

Re: Alexander statue in airport causes turmoil
I do have to say that it really excites me that Alexander is pretty much a house-hold name in this day and age. To have so much interest in him after thousands of years is just testimony to how big of an impact he had and still has on our world. So many schools are placing less and less importance ...

Re: Alexander statue in airport causes turmoil
If that 70 ft statue is ever erected I'd love to see it in person. It's too bad that it would be surrounded by so much controversy. I wonder what Alexander would make of all of this.

Re: The Parthenon restoration
I tried to make it bigger but for some reason I can't make it to where you can read it. Maybe some changes have occured since I was last on here and larger images are resized automatically? Okay it must have been my image hosting site causing the problems so I tried another and it worked so much bet...

Re: The Parthenon restoration
There is a very nice article on the new Acropolis museum Athens in the Sep/Oct issue of Archaelogy magazine. If you are not able to get a copy and are interested I could scan all of the article, which is 6 pages. Here are the first two pages. http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/2379/page1acropolisarti...

Re: Alexander as gay icon
Theseus my anger is not towards you, but to those who wrote this, and i totally agree with Phoebus with what he said. Also, it does not matter what Alexander's sexuality was, not so much at least, but naming him the king of gays, and Aristotle the king of pederasty, well that's insulting to say the...

Re: Alexander as gay icon
I didn't have the time to comment when I first posted it and I appologize for that. I won't make excuses, please accept my appology. I posted this because it has to do with that very touchy subject of Alexander's sexuality which is the topic of this thread. Alexander's sexuality isn't a big deal to ...

Re: Alexander as gay icon
Well I know this isn't any help, but a friend of mine just found this and forwarded to me. Yes it's related to Oliver Stone's film, but I found this interesting. Alexander The Great THE GAY LOVERS OF ALEXANDER III OF MACEDON, known as ‘THE GREAT’ Alexander the Great Note on Alexander, the movie by O...
