A big tomb was found recently in February 2006 in Pella, consisting of eight chambers, with bodies and items, that as the archaiologists said it is of a noble family. It's estimated chronology is right after Alexander's campaign. There are other findings too in the area, i'll try to talk to an arch...

Everything that has to do with ancient Egypt is interesting. One of the most interesting recent discoveries is the hall below and in front of the sphinx. It was detected by the use of sismic waves, or something like that. It could be one of the greatest finds, as it is said that a room under the sh...

Re: Lion's teeth

Re: Did Alexander give too much?
Do you think by giving so much to his men that this may have been part of why his men refused to continue following him? Let me think. No. To give you must first take. Alexander took much. His army took much. Whatever Alexander "gave" his men was the merest pittance compared the the riche...

Giving was in Alexander's nature. He had no need for luxaries and pleasures. I don't think he gave away too much. Instead, this giving away might have caused the army to love him more. I enjoy your theory about the men refusing to go on because of such riches. I can certainly see some of the men wi...

I very much agree with you Kenny. Alexander and Hephaestion had such a bond. I really don't care if their relationship was sexual or not. It was totally normal back then to have lovers of both genders. We make such a big deal about it in this day and age, but what those two had was beautiful. Hephae...

Semiramis, I posted that I too don't believe Aristotle had anything to do with Alexander's death. I wonder if Hephaestion did indeed die of poisoning, if the people involved did it with the intent that Alexander would be so distraught that he would commit suicide then they wouldn't have to kill him ...
