Re: Winding down pothos/Keeping Pothos alive!
Bandwidth was no problem. It was processor time and database time they were worried about. One bot was causing 96% of the load  Check out this image where the tiny green line is the allowed use. I've re-enabled all the forums as read-only to guests and we'll see how that affects usage. Screen...

Re: Winding down pothos/Keeping Pothos alive!
Alexias and I are working together on a plan. The site will stay on www.pothos.org but it will take a little while to move.
The forum will likely be locked on Thursday and we will attempt the move.

Re: Winding down pothos
Sorry to see it go, but I remember when it started! I was a new grad student at Penn State studying Alexander with Gene Borza. I am now a tenured professor in spitting distance of retiring. I toast this as the first and longest-running site about Alexander the Great on the web. Thanks for taking it...

Re: Winding down pothos
I have updated the site to the latest version of phpBB3 and am working with Alexias on moving the forum. To not lose anything I will need to disable posting - the only easy way to do this means you would not be able to read this message so I won't do it for now. But when that appears you'll know we ...

Re: phpBB updated
All of the forum is where the threads are I think. The "Fixed" content of the site https://www.pothos.org/ is flat HTML that I harvested from a very out of date CMS that was full of security holes. If you wanted the ability to make fixed pages again then it might be possible to do it with ...

Re: Emails/Alexias and Main Site/Thomas
Greetings, Alexias, as a moderator, I still see only the dark box, so I assume only you and Thomas can see emails. Thomas, is the site update still going to allow us to post articles on the main pages outside the Forum? Regards, Sikander I think that would be the "Pages" add-on which I ha...

Re: phpBB updated
Please be aware that the upgrade appears to mean that you can now contact other members directly via the email address they have used to register with the forum. If you do not want people contacting you via the email address you have used, you may wish to consider creating a new email address and c...

Re: Direction of the forum
I think you can move a thread to any forum by moving the first post. I'm not sure about moving to topics. Maybe I misunderstood.Alexias wrote:As far as I can see, you can only move a post to an existing topic.

I think if you just move the first post then all the rest of the thread will follow?
